Linkola, Jukka

(b Helsinki, July 21, 1955). Finnish pianist, composer and conductor. He studied the piano and music theory at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki from 1972 to 1980. From 1974 he worked as a rehearsal pianist and from 1979 to 1992 as a conductor at the Helsinki City Theatre. He has taught music at the Sibelius Academy and at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki. Since 1972 he has played in various jazz ensembles, and in 1976 he founded the Jukka Linkola Octet, which became one of the pillars of Finnish jazz and was later enlarged into Jukka Linkola Tentet.
