(b Espoo, March 4, 1965). Finnish composer. From 1984 he studied composition at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Rautavaara, Aho and Eliasson and continued his studies with Donatoni in Biella and Siena (1988–9) and with Szalonek in Berlin (1991–3). In 1995 he took his composition diploma and in 1998 his MA at the Sibelius Academy. In 1989, his string quartet was awarded first prize at the UNESCO Rostrum for young composers.
