(b Jyväskylä, April 23, 1962). Finnish composer. He studied composition at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, with Rautavaara and Heininen (1979–89) and pursued further studies in The Hague (1987–8), in Budapest with Zolt Durkó (1989–91) and at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin (1991–2), where his teacher was Szalonek. In 1992 he became lecturer in music theory at the University of Turku.
